I got the treadmill back in 2000 for conference calls, but now I came up with an easier solution for a freestanding desk.

The wire shelving found at Lowe's, organizeit.com or metro! These are just a few resources, but I had the popular 54" hi 14x36 with an extra 36" hanger rail so I set it up at the back of the treadmill with one shelf cantilevered over the controls. Of course I am tall so it works for a keyboard at perfect ergonomic height. The laptop or monitor can be on the back top shelf. I am ordering additional parts to improve the configuration. There are key board trays and different size shelving and post heights available to offer lots of options. This is much better then dealing with building from scratch.

Now if one of these shelving companies would just make a kit just for this purpose it would be too easy not to jump on the treadmill. As a facilities designer I wonder if the prototype shown will be at Herman Miller or Steelcase option for corporate one day. I always thought the adjustable height desktops made sense, but the cost was prohibitive for most companies.

Hi Jay,I am walking on my treadmill desk right now...

Hi Jay,

I am walking on my treadmill desk right now.
